The nworks Smart Plug-in (SPI) for VMware products provide you with performance, configuration, and event monitoring services through your HP Operations Manager software.
nworks Smart Plug-in (SPI) for VMware is a complete HP Operations Manager software connector implementing distributed monitoring and management of VMware Virtual Infrastructure 3.
The Smart Plug-in for VMware publishes VMware VI3 state, performance, capacity, configuration, topology and Virtual Center events directly into HP Operations Manager software.
The SPI for VMware products monitor the state of virtual machines (on, off, suspended, stuck) and gather configuration information, host and guest performance information, and event information used for monitoring and reporting. The SPI's Connector gathers information concerning individual virtual machines (VM) and their use of the physical hardware resources including CPU, disk, and memory. They do not provide system and application monitoring functionality for the VMs. However, VMs can be monitored as you would a physical server, by deploying the HP Software Agent (agent) and application Smart Plug-ins such as the Windows OS SPI.

Service map—the SPI for VMware uses the service map to keep track of the configuration of the ESX servers and the VMs. Using the service map, you can determine the VMs running on an ESX server and the ESX server on which a VM is running. If a VM moves from one ESX server to another, the map is updated to reflect this change automatically.
Reporting—web-based reports are generated nightly. You can use these reports to track long-term resource utilization of the ESX servers and the VMs. The reports are created using Crystal Reports. As such, you can use them in HP Reporter software if you need additional reporting functionality.
Graphing—near real-time graphs are provided. In-context graphs are launched from the service map.
Policies—a large collection of policies for monitoring performance, event, and state information is provided
Knowledge—information gathered from VMware and Veeam's experience about events and performance issues is included with the SPI to further aid in troubleshooting alarms.

Graphing—graphing is provided through the use of HP Performance Manager software.
